Food meet cartoon, cartoon meet food

Man this theme song sucked. The words are just pulled out of nowhere and it finishes with the ultimate in cliché 80s endings. They are the Gummy Beeeeeeeaaaaaars!

Coke is it.

Today is the day that someone somewhere invented Coca-Cola. I’ll be honest I don’t really have much information on it’s past or anything but I do know a classic treat when I see one.
Sure it’s a drink and not candy, but it’s a great drink to wash your candy down with and that’s good enough for me. So happy birthday Coke!

Update, Update, Update

With Easter bearing down on us like nothing else I’ve decided to give you guys a whole line up of Easter reviews. I started with these two egg treats (last weeks and this weeks reviews), and then I’m heading for what could be the silliest Easter treat ever.

Also this week you can take a look at the kind of candies waiters leave for me when they drop off the cheque. It’s amazing what some people will settle with when they’re full and bloated.

Plain as the candy in my hand

Recently while visiting my dad he handed me a very unusual gift. He handed me a bag of M&Ms and told me it was a collector’s item. I couldn’t figure it out but then he explained it.
It would appear that M&Ms are no longer called plain. Instead they now call them “Milk Chocolate”. I never noticed this, and I can’t figure out why they’d change it.

Hey everybody, it’s National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!

I probably should have told you sooner so you could have bought some grapes and let them dry out in the sun. But hey you could always go the simple way and buy a box already dried. Either way go out and cover them with chocolate, or buy them pre-covered, really it all depends how much time you have in your day.

Happy National Chip and Dip day!

So go find a potato and dip it in something creamy, green, or filled with beans.

Going to buy a Mr Big right now

Man these look tasty although the song scares the heck out of me.

I may be sore and tired, but it’s still update day.

Normally I start every update day with a big hurray and I’m all excited but to be honest today I’m just really, really tired and sore. I had a late night of comedy fun last night and today was all about the updates and trying to figure out how to wake up. All this said we’re starting to head into Easter mode with our first of 3 Easter treats. I’ll post more about the upcoming season later for now I’m going to go snuggle up in bed and watch some cartoons and eat some candy.

What a name

This has got to be the best name of any kind of snack store ever. It’s not particularly creative but it’s really fun to say.

Attitude?

I love when normal products get the super crazy extreme treatment. You end up with silly slogans like this.

US only

I was in the US and I must say that you guys are really good at keeping secrets. If you ask just about anybody in the world what a snicker doodle is they’ll have no idea that they’re missing out on an awesome cookie.

Getting over the root beer hump

So as you may or may not know I had a really bad experience with root beer as a kid. It involved drinking a can of root beer that was older than sand. Over the last few years I’ve decided to try and get over this experience and start enjoying root beer again. I order it from time to time even if I don’t really want it. So far the plan has worked really well.
I recently decided to even go out on a limb and try a small time root beer out. It was great. This stuff’s nice and smooth, not too strong, just perfect. I think I may be changing my root beer fear into a love for the stuff.

Fly away!

I just got off a Delta flight and I was happy to note that not only are the peanuts back on flights but now there’s choice in your snacks. I personally recommend the cookie.

Classic Rolo Spot

I love the fact that the guy is wearing the same outfit several years later. Makes me wish I had some of my childhood clothing.

Update day, a day late.

Well here it is, another update day, a day late. I’m starting to think that Wednesday might not be the best day to do updates; I have to think about it. Well hopefully a box full of chocolate covered fruity goodness will make up for the delay. These are a Canadian classic treat and I dare you to tell anybody from the East coast that they’re not spectacular.

Happy National Potato Chip Day!

Time to fry up some potatoes and munch, munch, munch. I’ve always had a yen for salt and vinegar chips myself, but any flavour, even plain, is all right with me. Due to the potato chip day festivities, as well as a slight spat of food poisoning, updated day will be tomorrow instead.

Infotainment: to inform and entertain.

These commercials are kind of funny and they made me smile. They also introduced me to a bar called 'Japp', gotta find one of these.

Peeping Chris

I’m eating peeps today, but not just regular peeps…
These are no sugar added peeps.
What I want to know is if they’re not a little bird shaped gelatinous balls of sugar covered by sugar, what are they?

Up is always update

This weeks review has a little history to it. After many e-mails from Candy fanatics I’ve finally done the Jelly Belly review. My biggest problem with doing a Jelly Belly review has always been choosing the flavour to review.

So I decided to go on a little investigative hunt and I picked out some of the more popular flavours, picked my favourite and that’s led us to today.

Also this week the Candy of the Month Club members can check out the latest episode of the Candy Critic Internet films.

Is desert candy?

I just celebrated my birthday yesterday at a great buffet and man did I ever fill up.

While loading up my desert plate a common thought that I have came back to haunt me. Can a desert be considered a candy? I mean I put candy on my ice cream (sprinkles and M&Ms) I’ve also eaten cakes and ice cream that I would easily define as candy. So what’s the difference? I know that if I look at my grandmas peach pie I don’t think candy, why is that? If you’ve got any ideas let me know, I’ll have to give it a little thought.
