Canadian Candy

When I think of gummies I think of Haribo, because really they invented them. But when I think of Canadian Gummies I think of Maynard’s.

The late, Ice Cream and Soda

So here’s my problem, I was planning on doing a fun little BLOG all about the fact that it was Ice Cream and Soda day, only I forgot to do it on the actual date, then I got sick, and by the time I got better I forgot again. So here it is 8 days later and I have these wacky pictures of me pretending that I thought they meant soda water and not cola or something.
I have nothing to say except I’m sorry for being late and I’m sorry for such a lame idea for a BLOG entry. Well I guess I could say that the Ice Cream was good, but I won’t.

New photos

I just added a couple of new photos to the Candy Critic Store, including this popular little gem.

Chocolate monkey cakes

Man I love monkeys, I also love cakes and chocolate too. That’s what caught my attention when I picked up these cool little snacks for the members of the Candy of the Month Club. But that’s not what this post is about (I’ll have a review of these online soon).

What caught my attention is the classic way of proving that these little treats can be healthy:

“Accompanied by fruit and milk product, Igor from Vachon constitutes a delicious and nutritious snack.”

It’s up to me to date

That title was one of those things that I thought would come out really clever but in the end it just sounded like nothing. I do that sometimes. This weeks review is something you can sink your teeth into, several times even. I figured on a warm summers day Bubblicious "Strawberry Splash" gum might quench your thirst, or at least pretend to.
Not much else to report on the front side of Candy Critic this week, although behind the scenes we’ve been working our tails off trying to make the site run a little better. We’ve also decided to put up next months new banner early so we can lead up to Canada day.

Finally I should mention that the Candy Critic himself will be at Urban Art in Minto Park in Ottawa on July 21st and 22nd selling some candy prints and talking art and candy.

An interesting look at the 5-second rule.

The only thing I know for sure is if you don’t make the 5-second rule then you have to go to the 10-second rule.

Cone

This cool Ice Cream sign is a little strange. Why is it so strange you ask? Well the although ice cream is well represented by the large cone with cream like substance (most likely frozen) there is no mention of “ice cream” written anywhere on the sign. Maybe the sign maker didn’t know what a donut looked like.

Hershey go bye bye

This year they announced that they will be for sure 100% closing down the Smith Falls Hershey plant. Sure it sucks that many people will lose their jobs, and it’s sad that a historical plant will close it’s doors, but my problem is now I don’t know where to get broken chocolate bars at discount prices in my area.

Ikea Ice Cream

Ikea is a great place to get a pretty good ice cream cone for super cheap (a dollar in my parts). Now they also offer chocolate Sundays for only a dollar fifty. They’re yummy and still pretty good on the wallet.

Finally he’s posting something on his BLOG.

I know, I’ve been really neglecting the BLOG lately. I feel bad and there’s no reason to let me have it, I assure you the guilt is enough. The good news is I’ve been spending much of the time not Blogging working on updating Candy Critic stuff, like this weeks review.

Also this week the members got a peek at my first ever S’mores experience. Sure it went bad, but that’s half the fun. If you’re a member I’m sure your thrilled, if your not, why haven’t you signed up yet?!!

Finally I’ve added to the Candy Related Merchandise article this week. Ok now I think I’m done.

Update, plan and simple

I have this new strange fixation with cookies. I’m tempted to start a cookie web page and see how that goes. I’m not sure if it’s a passing thing though. All I know is that you candy fanatics will be the first to gain from my new found cookie love and my new found cookies knowledge. This weeks review is proof of that. This week I look at Reese’s attempt to enter the cookie world.
Also this week we have a new article online. It’s all about all the cool candy related toys and stuff that I’ve accumulated over the years. It’ll be an ongoing list and it’ll probably get pretty long.

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

I forgot to mention that last Thursday was National Chocolate Ice Cream day. Now it’s too late to celebrate this year, but don’t forget to mark it down for next.

My food is talking to me.

So I was cooking dinner when my doorbell rang. I tried to ignore it as I usually do, but it just kept ringing. So I eventually opened the door and my neighbour was standing there, I guess he knew I was home. He handed me this package and told me it came when I wasn’t home. New rule around this house is open the door more often.

What I found in this package was a cute little box full of chocolate. Yummy looking chocolate

Not only was this chocolate yummy looking but it was smart too. This cool and highly accurate package came from the fine folks at Chocotelegrams.

Best of all they included a note I can send back to them.

Cookies on the 7 seas

Arrr mates I be the dread captain Candy McCridic scourge of the Internet seas. I as all great scoundrels like the taste of me Pirate cookies.
They be full of oatmeal and peanut butter, only a landlubber wouldn’t give a great yo-ho-ho to this fine a treat.
Maybe they’re not thinking about regular pirates when they made these, maybe it’s more like people who listen to stolen MP3s or have unregistered copies of Photoshop?
