Up Date Day

Well this week’s update is a little sad. See this is the last day that we’re hosting the Candy of the Month Club. Yup it’s over, no more candy going out to people all over the world (or at least North America). It just got too expensive and not possible. Maybe we’ll bring it back but for now it’s gone. Fortunately this weeks review pepped me up a bit, well it actually pepped me up way too much.

Juliette & Chocolat

Allison and I just got back from a nice visit with friends in Montreal. While there they took us to an ultimate desert place called Juliette & Chocolat.
I mentioned this place before in a past visit to Montreal but didn’t go last time. This time when it was suggested that we go I didn’t want to miss the opportunity.
Allison got an amazing cheesecake with caramel.
I got a chocolate filled chocolate cake covered in sel de mer caramel. I also got some chocolate ice cream with it.
Our friend Miho got a brownie that might have been the richest chocolaty brownie I’ve ever eaten in my life. Sometimes when I go to these all desert places the selection sounds interesting but the quality is only ok, but this place isn’t that way at all. The selection is great and the treats are wonderful. I highly recommend that anyone in or going to the Montreal area gives this place a try.

A happy place to live

On this very site will be what could possibly be the best place to live in the whole wide world.
The Lowney condos! For those that don’t know Lowney is a chocolate company here in Canada, well at least it used to be. And these condos are built in the old Lowney factory. I wonder if I bought one if they’d just leave the machines all set up?

Another look at the up and coming chocolate company TCHO out of San Francisco. These guys really know what they want and aren’t afraid to try new things.

Muskoka Cloud

If you’re ever near Huntsville Ontario take the road towards Algonquin Park and keep driving till you see a silly little set up of Tepees and a big cheesy grisly bear. Keep going a little further and you’ll come a bakery.
This bakery is known for some awesome deserts. I recommend most highly the Muskoka Cloud, a great pastry filled with fresh cranberries. Get there soon because they make one batch a day and when they’re gone that’s it.

This month at Tim Hortons

Normally they have a new donut every month or so at Tim Hortons. This Month however they decided to go for the cookie angle, and with a whole bunch to choose. I went with a chocolate, caramel thing, and it was ok, although it smelled a little better than it tasted.

Orillia’s Mariposa Market

We just got back from Orillia Ontario and we came across a great find. It’s a place called the Mariposa Market.
Not a bad looking treat in the bunch. They had a whole bunch of free samples, and I chowed down. I thought to myself, why in the world would they just give it away. I filled up with all kinds of free treats.
Then I tried the pumpkin spice bread and I just had to have a whole loaf for myself. Stupid samples worked too well.
The basement of the Mariposa Market had a shop full of sweet fun treats.
Even these super hot “Kick Ass” jellybeans.

What’s the story…

I just ate at Fran’s restaurant (in Barrie Ontario) and I ordered what could be the strangest breakfast ever it’s called the Morning Glory. It was a waffle with two fried eggs on top with two slices of bacon on top of that. The whole meal is covered with apples cooked in some kind of syrup. It was really strange and super tasty.

Orange Cheese Crunch

The other day my friends Paula and Julie suggested I try these crazy little Cheezies made in Bellville Ontario.
My friends claimed that they’re the best ever made, I guess only a review will tell for sure.

Snoooore Gummies

Gummies are great; they can be made into just about any size shape or colour. It opens the door to make all kinds of crazy fun things.
These folks decided that maybe fun wasn’t the best idea. Maybe they should make shapes that pretty much bore the socks right off most people that try them. Actually sock shaped gummies would have been more fun.
Here’s the list of “fun” shapes they went with. Ham Sandwich, Pizza Slice, Apple, Bottle of Water, and Cheese. Now don’t get me wrong, the first three aren’t that dull, but a Bottle of Water and Cheese?!
Worst of all they basically all taste the same. It wasn’t like any fruit I’ve ever seen it was more like a light perfume.

It’s a little bit update today.

I’m just getting over a cold, or allergies, well something I’m sure. So I’m going to keep this simple and quick. This week’s update is one of my favourite snacks and it’s one I eat regularly. Enjoy.

How to open a Crunky Bar

The greatest thing about getting treats from all over the world has to be the packaging… Actually it’s pretty much eating an extreme amount of cool candy that’s really the greatest thing, but the packaging is pretty good too.
At first I was a little stymied on how to open this bar. Then I realised that the arrows where the main clue.

I yanked where I thought I should yank.

And in no time chocolate fun was to be mine.

I’m tired, oh yeah it’s also update day.

I’ve been doing this art show circuit for the last few weeks and man am I ever tired. But that doesn’t stop me from updating… well it kind of did last week but I assure you it won’t be a habit. I’ve also decided that as of now the Candy of the Month Club will be ending. It was fun and it was great sending out packs of cool treats to candy fanatics all over. It’s just that the shipping became too much of a problem to deal with. I may on occasion send out prizes to regular readers but no more monthly packs. It may seem like a really sad and down week, but really it just means more time for me to eat and find all kinds of fun treats. Like this weeks review.

Carnie Candy

I’m not sure what’s going on in the sign. There are snow cones everywhere and they don’t seem to be melting at all. All the candy apples have been turned into pears, which is not something I really want to try. Scary clowns on the walls. There is a kid about to cover his cotton candy with popcorn. There’s also a dog running around which tells me that this is not very hygienic. It’s candy pandemonium!

Morning super treat.

This morning I decided to get myself a couple of treats and my muffin became fused to my donut.
This is either a total disaster or a new treat sensation.

The folks at Tootsie have something they’d like to say… well sort of.

They’re having a contest:

“Tootsie Roll Industries is challenging customers to solve the long time mystery -- "how many licks does is take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop" for a chance to win $50,000.”

Have you ever thought of an impossible idea?

Well I just did. The idea of planting a Jelly Bean and getting a Jelly Bean tree is pretty stupid. After all beans grow on vines.
I’ve decided to change my perspective on life and try silly things that although many call them impossible I’m sure they’ve never tried to be sure.
Well I’m going to try this to be sure. I’ve decided to plant a red Jelly Bean because they’re my favourite and just in case it’s a bumper crop I wouldn’t want a vine full of black ones.
Good luck little bean. My next mission, to find a Unicorn.
