A deeper look at my pickle

Yesterday I picked up a couple of pickle fun snacks at school (you can read more about my school snacking habits here and here). Today I decided that it was time to crack open my pickle in a bag and give it a try. Don’t think that the idea of just keeping it sealed didn’t cross my mind. I mean a pickle in a bag could be one of the greatest things a man could have in his collection of useless stuff.
I also think it would make an awesome gift for just about anybody. Friends, family, clergy, even co-workers, who wouldn’t want this kind of fun treat for any holiday. But alas my temptation to try it myself took over.
Just in case you’re wondering it contains only one pickle, as stated clearly on the package.
It’s a snack on the go, which means that if you’ve got to be somewhere and you need a pickle you’re in good hands. The thing is I felt that it was important to open my pickle at home over my sink because the juice would get everywhere.
Allison also noticed that the package said that each bag contains 5 servings of pickle. This also creates some problems. Mainly because the bag for the pickle doesn’t re-seal, but also no human being in the world can take just one bite out of a yummy pickle.

Candy problems in China just keep getting bigger.

Just read this article about Cadbury being affected by the melamine scandal in China. Apparently they’ve started a re-call but so far no treats in Europe or North America have been affected. Hopefully this is the last of this problem.

Pickles, pickles everywhere

I wrote earlier about how my school really didn’t have much to choose from in the snack department. Well it still pretty much holds true, but I’ve decided to search out what I can find.

Today I was lucky enough to score big, I managed if you happen to love pickles. First of all I found this pickle in a bag. I don’t know what else to say about it.
I also found these pickled flavoured sunflower seeds with what could be the best representation of pickles and sex all in one.

Update, way too late.

So being back at school I’ve started to write a whole lot. You might notice the quality of the writing go up a bit, or it might go down, to be honest it’s late and I just finished a paper and I want to go to bed. But no, I needed to be sure that all of you got your weekly update. Why do I do this, I think its insanity to be honest. This weeks review is also a little insane, something I hope to never have to eat again.

Really, a cat?

I was looking around for a commercial or something to post this week (as I try to post a video every week) and I came across a couple of Chupa Chups commercials. More importantly as I was looking through a few links I found the video of someone’s cat that apparently is obsessed with Chupa Chups. Watch the whole thing only if you want to prove to yourself that someone might actually video tape their cat for over a minute licking a lollypop.

Happy National Cherries Jubilee Day

I’m not really sure what Cherries Jubilee really is other than an ice cream flavour, and I really didn’t have the opportunity to get any today. So here’s a recipe that maybe I’ll use next year if I’m in the same boat.

News and me

The CBC just called me up today to get my opinion on the Milk Candy scare out of China. I’m a big fan of White Rabbits and it would suck if they disappeared forever because of this. They said that they might want to interview me on the radio later, I’ll let you know if they still do.

Pick pick pick

Some of you may have noticed a slight decrease in the number of BLOGs lately. Well I’ve decided to go back to school and normally I’d say that it really doesn’t mean much to this BLOG. But my problem is my complete lack of selection in the school’s snack department.
The picture above is not the same machine as the first picture in the BLOG.
This picture as well, a different machine, but pretty much the exact same choice in snacks. In fact it’s pretty amazing how similar each machine is.
This was the only machine in all of Carleton University with a different selection. And by different I mean that it had no selection at all.

I fall for update day

Fall is officially here in my book. It’s almost dropped below 0 here in Ottawa and that means that leaves will start changing and that Halloween is coming. I’m ok with that although I really hope that there’s some great new stuff this year. Speaking of new stuff and fall this week’s update is orange like the leaves of the trees and new because I hadn’t tried it before.

No Skittles?

Holy cow I’ve just realised that I’ve never reviewed Skittles. I realized this while writing a review for chocolate Skittles. I think I have to do something about that as soon as possible.

Two days in one

Some of you might know that it’s International Talk like a Pirate Day but it’s also National Butterscotch Pudding Day too.
I don’t have a boat, a parrot or even an eye patch, but I do have some pudding, so I be celebratin’ in me own ways.

Not much to speak of now.

I really haven’t had too many interesting treats or treat experiences lately. I did have a bowl of Vanilla Shreddies the other day. They’re pretty good, I don’t think they’re as good as the regular ones but they’re ok. I actually prefer them without milk but a growing boy needs his nutrition.

It’s update day and it’s also National Cream Filled Donut Day.

Does it really get any better than that? I mean trying a new treat and eating a cream filled donut? It’s pretty spectacular if you ask me. This weeks review isn’t bad either; actually it’s a pretty interesting look at a classic snack from another land. I’ve got to go now, my chocolate cream is leaking.

New Beavertails!!! New Beavertails!!!

One of the best Canadian treats you could possibly stick your teeth into is the Beavertail. For years they’ve been around and honestly nothing’s better than the classic Beavertail with cinnamon, sugar, and a little lemon juice. But every once in a while they come out with a new flavour, and last I night discovered one with peanut butter, chocolate sauce, and Reese’s Pieces. It’s pretty spectacular.

Freeze the vote

This week I’ve had a bit of a dilemma, how should I cover the elections coming up? More importantly should I cover both US and Canadian elections this year since they’re only about a month apart? I decided to walk to a place that often feeds me with strange inspiration. Parliament Hill is a great place to see a whole lot of strange things, and today was no exception. What inspired me today was a guy in a suit (who I assumed worked for the government) eating an ice cream cone.
Then the idea struck me. I want to know what flavour of ice cream all the candidates prefer. It’s important to me. A Rocky Road man is a very different person than someone who prefers strawberry.
So I’m sending out e-mails this weekend to all my local candidates, the fine folks running for Prime Minister as well as all the folks I can find that want to be president of the US. And simply ask them:

What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?

As the cookie crumbles

I wonder if treat companies know that I live here. Do my neighbours get free cookies too? Today in my mail box I got a little package with a “soap opera” them.

And inside this little box… Free cookies!!!

Here’s the site that goes with it.

HOT BEEF SUNDAES!!!

Fast Food Frankenstein just posted about what could be the greatest treat idea ever. Hot Beef Sundaes! It sounds too wrong to be good. If I could I’d be on a plane right now.

It sounds like a loaf of crazy courtship. I personally can’t say I’ve ever even tried it, but maybe I will with this cool recipe.

My back hurts, on update day.

My back is in pretty rough shape lately and if anybody says it’s because of my diet it’s going to make me a little sad. This weeks review on the other hand makes me kind of happy. Chocolate and fruit are pretty good for doing that.

Island chocolate not from Hawaii

Allison picked up this dark chocolate bar from Madagascar. I never knew they had their own chocolate recipe but here it is.
Basically it seemed to have a bit of a vanilla like aftertaste. It was a little fruity too but that could have just been the high quality dark chocolate.

Pizza times two

Today I just have a craving for something salty and I looked in my “to review” box and I found two bags with something similar. Two bags of pizza flavoured snacks one from Asia and one from Europe. It was really neat to see how two snack makers would treat the same theme.
