Back in the 1920s Pepsin was considered worth advertising on the package of Wrigley's gum. I'm not sure if it still contains pepsin today, however I can wager a guess as to why it doesn't advertise it anymore. According to my internet research it is a chemical that aids with digestion. Today people prefer to think about their gum freshening their breath instead of helping them poop.
