Our Most Popular Candy Thing

Baby Gummy Bear Tshirt

Of all of the t-shirts that we sell at the Candy Critic Store, this is the most popular, by a whole lot.  I'm not really sure whom is buying these shirts.  Maybe candy lovers expecting a child, or maybe people that just think way too much about how gummies are made.  No matter who's buying this shirt, we're happy that many of you are enjoying it.

This Week In Candy

We're back!  After a three week adventure through Europe, we're back home and ready to go.  It was an epic trip, filled with sweet treats, and lots of cheese.  We're going to post more later this week, and next week about our adventure.  We also posted a few snapshots of our adventure on Facebook and Twitter.  Since we literally just got back yesterday, this week is going to be all about unpacking and organizing this epic adventure.  I have candy to photograph, and photos to sort out, so stay tuned for lots of fun post about our epic trip.

This week on our Instrgram feed Snack Facts, we're going to keep going with random European facts.  While we unpack out bags we're coming across all kinds of things we forgot that we bought.  So at least once a day this week we'll unpack some new Snack Facts about some of the stuff we came across on our European adventure.  You can check out Snack Facts by following us on Instagram, don't use Instagram, well you can also follow Snack facts on our Twitter and Facebook feeds as well.

To get the ball rolling on our European trip round up, we're going to have a European candy review-a-thon all week long.  Check our social media pages every day for a new review of a treat we've picked up on this epic adventure.  We're starting off with a variation of a classic bar, with a truly European twist.  Click here to read today's new review, and check here every day to see the latest edition in our European candy review-a-thon.

Candy In The Media

M&M's really played the whole brown M&M thing for adults.  I'm pretty sure as a kid I never thought about my candy having an active social or sex life.  As it turns out, some advertising creative person does, and they should be locked up for it.  I'm no prude, but I have no interest in knowing where Mini M&Ms come from.

Of all the shirts we sell at the Candy Critic store, this one is probably my favorite.  When I designed it I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but I think it looks great.  I have yet to actually own any shirts from our collection, but I think I'm going to order this one right now.  I'll wear it proud, because I love popcorn.

Candy In The Media

Japan has always had their share of strange commercials, as well as commercials that feature some serious sexual themes.  The reason this commercial doesn't creep me out as much as other North American candy commercials with sexual overtones, is that Japanese culture doesn't look at candy and snacks the same way western cultures do.  In Japanese culture adults eat snacks and candies as much, and maybe more, than kids.  It's not an age defining thing, candy eating happens at any age.  They even specifically design some treats for adults, and they create candy commercials for adults as well.

A Cookie Candy Thing

Has there ever been a truer statement printed on a t-shirt ever before?  Are cookies not awesome?  Sometimes you're presented with a t-shirt that has something written upon it, and you're not sure if you totally agree with the statement.  This shirt will give you no such troubles, because it is no word of a lie.

Candy In The Media

Since Spring is here, and sexy thoughts are in the air, we've decided to feature a new sexy candy commercial every Friday for the next few weeks.  It's pretty impressive that some candy companies even go the "sexy" route in their advertising, considering many consider candy to be a kids thing.  Today's video isn't really raunchy, but it certainly has implications of an adult nature.

A Snug Candy Thing

It's been a while since we've feature our exclusive line of T-shirts here on the blog.  Today we're showing off a really cool pixelated gummy bear t-shirt.  It'll fit like a glove, and it'll show the world how much you like computer related candy things.  If you just want a single gummy bear on your shirt, we have those in our store as well.

This Week in Candy/Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everyone!  I sure hope the bunny brought you guys some tasty treats.  I also encourage you to take up my second favorite part of this holiday, shopping for discount Easter candy on Tuesday.

I'm also announcing that I'm on an adventure right now, off to explore various parts of Europe.  While the point of this trip is to take some time off and vacation, I'm also going to be sampling all kinds of fun treats.  I'll be sure to post a few snapshots on our Facebook page and Twitter feed now and again.  So what does this mean for this blog, and for candycritic.org and this blog?

First of all our weekly new review is going to take a break, probably for most of this month, but I'll make up for it with a review-a-thon when I get back.  Also, This Week in Candy will not be happening, however I am going to try to post a few extra blog posts about what I've seen and done already on my trip (hopefully that will work out).  Our weekly Candy Thing posts and Candy in the Media posts will continue to go up while we're gone, so keep an eye open for those.  Snack Facts (our Instagram feed) will also take a break... sort of. I've decided that if I learn any fun Snack Facts on our trip, I'll post them immediately with a photo of where I learnt it.  Finally we're hoping to record a few segments for our new updated podcast over this trip, and hopefully we'll have those ready to go ASAP when we get back.

I really hope everybody who follows us has a great Easter, and I hope that the spring time weather comes soon so you can start eating Popsicles and ice cream again.

Candy In The Media

Of all the commercials ever produced, I think this Cadbury Easter Creme Egg commercial symbolizes Easter to me the best.  The idea of a clucking bunny gives me fond memories of searching out candy baskets early on Easter morning.  To this day, in our house Easter Creme Eggs are an Easter tradition, and every year we await the clucking bunny to deliver them.

A Build Your Own Easter Candy Thing

When I was a kid my dad used to make up huge Easter baskets for us on Easter.  While he certainly wouldn't skimp on the sweet treats, he also made sure to add a few toys into the mix as well.  Inevitably there would often be something Lego in my basket every year.  It was never a huge Lego set, but always a fun little project that would go really well with my birthday gifts I had recently received (since my birthday is on March 5th).  If anybody else likes to give their kids Lego sets for Easter, this one might be the perfect choice.
